About FosteringEnjoy the warm-fuzzy feeling of accomplishment and love you get from saving the lives of neglected or abandoned Saint Bernards. Bringing one of these gentle giants into your home as a foster is the first step in giving them a new lease on life. Some of our dogs have suffered from abuse and neglect, and they need to learn to trust humans again, and know that they are safe and loved. Others are given up due to death, divorce, or financial concerns. Luck & Legends Saint Bernard Rescue will pay for all supplies and medical care the dogs need, including but not limited to neutering/spaying, routine shots, and other possible surgeries. A Foster Volunteer's responsibilities are:
If you do decide to become a foster and you have other dogs in your home, please be certain that innoculations on your dogs are kept current. Getting Started
Once you have decided that you want to foster Saint Bernards, the first step is to fill out all of the paperwork. The Foster Application form tells us about who you are, what your expectation are, and how we can reach you. The Foster Home Requirements form lays out the formal requirements for a foster home, and the foster Agreement defines the duties and liabilities of each party. At any time during this process, please feel free to call and talk with one of our volunteers, who will be happy to answer any questions that you might have. After all of the paperwork is complete, one of our volunteers will contact you and arrange to do a home visit. This is done to make sure that your home is compatible with a Saint Bernard. Once the home visit has been completed, the adoption coordinator will work with you to place a compatible Saint Bernard into your care. |
